Football’n’stuff

Cavalier football is well underway, and the team seems optimistic about their upcoming games. With an unhappy final score against Coffee County on Sept. 6, the team was faced with a problem. “We had a choice after our loss to Coffee County. We could either give up now or put the past behind us and learn from it,” said senior Eric Walker.

That was clearly the case the following week with a 28-0 win over Lebanon.

Injuries are still a problem. Many senior players are hurt along with various others, but it hasn’t seemed to affect the team moral.

Senior Ben Jones said, ”I’ve learned that, while hard work and effort are important, team unity and support are essential in order to succeed. A house divided will not stand.”

Injured players agree that it is hard to sit and watch their team work so hard and achieve their goals, knowing they cannot have the chance to feel the same.

Injured senior Ben Curry said, “You don’t realize how much you love it until you can’t do it anymore.”

Homecoming was definitely looked forward to by the boys. They played their much anticipated game against Beech.

The next game is tonight at Lincoln County, and next Friday night’s game is at home against Antioch.

Freshmen played last night and will play again on Oct. 10 at Cumberland County at 6:30.

Be sure and come cheer on our football teams as they play in the upcoming games.
