Amber Mansell, Charger Staff

CHS softball is off to a roaring start. This year’s team has already seen action in several games and their schedule will be challenging.

The team players are Marie Lee, Erin Currier, Hannah Jaffe, Orianna Knowlton, Justina Goff, Marie Swallows, Kristie Powell, Candace Nabors, Joanna Slagle, Kayla Allen, Tara Polk, Lauren Nelson, Courtney Scott, Kari Kanipe, Jennifer Lee, Jenna King, Valarie Owens, Liera Brady, Hillary Valdez.

Managers are Laurel Scruggs and Jordan Thomas. Sam Brooks, Bob Cumby, and Ralph Jackson are coaching the team this year after the resignation of coaching legend Vertice Duff early in the pre-season.

Upcoming games include the April 25-26 Cookeville Tournament, April 29 against rivals from Oakland, May 2 at the District Meeting, and May 5-9 at the District Tournament.

Coach Bob Cumby said, “We have won 9 games. Their win -loss ratio is 9:5. “

When asked his expectations for the team, Coach Cumby said,
“ They will do well and show a lot of talent .”

Coach Sam Brooks said, “The team will give everything that they have to do well and make CHS proud.”
